NOTES FROM DAVE - January 2009

Well, It's been WAY too long since I wrote in here! I hope all of you are well and doing OK.

2008 was an amazing year, capped off with being elected President of AFM Local 257, Nashville's Musicians Union. I am humbled to take on this enormous task and I look forward to moving our Union into the future. I am also happy to say that I played on a Grammy nominated album by Emmylou Harris, "All I Intended To Be", along with quite a few sessions and gigs. Three Ring Circle continues to pick up steam and we played a number cool festivals, including an International Mandolin Festival in Lunel in the south of France. I took an amazing trip in Europe for nearly a month after a festival in Germany with The Hot Club of Nashville.

2009 started off very dramatically. One day after being sworn in to office, my house burned and I lost my buddy, my beautiful dog Duke in the blaze. I was down at the office moving in when I got the call and it has changed me dramatically. Trying times force you to look at yourself and life in new ways and that is DEFINITELY happening! I lost some basses and gera in the blaze, but in the end that was all just "stuff". Life is more precious than ever to me now.

Stay tuned - more to come!
