Dave Pomeroy - Producer Bio
Since moving to Nashville in 1977, Dave Pomeroy has not only established himself as one of the top studio musicians in Nashville, but is also making a name for himself as a producer as well. Drawing on his versatile musical background and extensive studio experience, Dave puts the emphasis on recording great songs and bringing out the unique qualities in each artist he produces.
Dave’s expertise as a producer is a direct result of nearly 20 years of recording sessions as a bassist working with some of the top producers in the business - Barry Beckett, Garth Fundis, John Cougar Mellencamp, Tony Brown, and Michael Omartian, to name just a few. Having recorded with a wide range of artists, (including Emmylou Harris, Adrian Belew, Trisha Yearwood, The Chieftains, Acoustic Alchemy, and many more) he is also able to adapt his production style to almost any musical situation. His extensive knowledge of the talent pool of musicians, studios, and engineers enables him to instinctively make the right calls to make each project unique. In addition, Dave’s long working relationship with the Nashville songwriting community helps him to get songs directly from many of the hottest writers in the business.
Dave’s production work with Canadian country artists Rick Tippe and Reese Klaiber have established as him one of the top independent producers in the Canadian market. Rick was named “Independent Artist of the Year” at the 1998 CCMA Awards, based on airplay of 4 hit singles from his CD Get Hot or Go Home. Dave has produced both of Tippe’s CDs, resulting in 6 Top 20 and 2 Top Ten singles. Klaiber’s debut CD, Where I Come From, was one of only two independent CDs named as one of the Top Ten Canadian country albums by Country Music News, and Reese also recieved a CCMA nomination for Independent Artist of the Year in 1999. Rory Block’s album Angel of Mercy, on which Dave was co-producer, won the NAIRD (Nat. Assoc. of Independent Record Distributors) Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for 1994. Curb artist Kimber Clayton has had extensive club play with the dance mix of Ring of Fire, a Pomeroy co-production. Dave also was a co-producer on Don Williams’ acclaimed live album, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. Dave’s Blue Christmas 4 song instrumental EP has recieved extensive airplay on jazz, rock, and progressive stations in Nashville since its release in 1992. Dave has produced projects for many contemporary singer/songwriters, such as David Wilcox, Jeff Black, and Daniel Tashian, and has worked with “self contained” bands like the Riptones, Nine Parts Devil, and the Chuck Underwood Group.
Earwave Productions has also produced many notable live concert events, including five annual Basses Loaded concerts with Bass Player magazine, twelve annual Blue Christmas concerts benefitting Nashville’s Room in the Inn homeless program, three years of regular Monday Night Madness concerts. Spinoffs from these shows include The All-Bass Orchestra concert video, Blue Christmas benefit CD, and Monday Night Moments radio spots for WPLN’s Players and Poets. One of Earwave's recent projects is Nashville Unlimited, a Public Radio show created, produced, and hosted by Dave, featuring a wide variety of the finest musicians, singers, and songwriters from the diverse Nashville scene.
Dave Pomeroy has established a reputation for hard work, integrity, and commitment in his career as a studio musician and producer. As the future unfolds, he will continue to be found putting heart and soul into the cutting edge of Nashville’s music.
