THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF MUSICIANS

Founded in 1896, the AFM is the largest organization in the world representing professional musicians. We have more than 80,000 members in the United States and Canada. We represent live performers, studio musicians, orchestra members, touring bands and anyone who needs our help in navigating the often treacherous waters of the modern music industry. Protecting yourself, and your work with an AFM contract for records, films, television work and jingles can be a life changing economic equation. We can help you create and maximize new revenue streams that you may not be aware of. For example, the AFM's participation with the United Nations Conference on Intellectual Property in Beijing, China in 2012 is beginning to result in payments to backing musicians from overseas radio play from foreign collectives who were previously witholding money to our members, who are now being paid through the AFM -SAG/AFTRA Fund.

Dave Pomeroy was elected President of the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 in 2008 and reelected unanimously in 2011. Under his guidance, Local 257 has continued to grow and prosper in a time of great upheaval in the music industry. He is committed to respecting and expanding upon the traditiona of ethical behavior and fair treatment of musicians that turned Nashville into Music City. Local 257 is now the 3rd largest AFM Local, behind only New York and Los Angeles. In 2010, Dave was elected to the International Executive Board of the AFM as part of the Unity Ticket led by Ray Hair, who was elected President of the the AFM, and together, this leadership team has transformed the AFM as well. The entire board was reelected at the 2013 AFM Convention.
