The Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257

The Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 was founded in 1902 and represents studio musicians, touring players, symphonic musicians including the Nashville Symphony, live performers, The Grand Ole Opry, and thousands of freelance musicians. Music City came to be because of people such as Chet Atkins, Owen Bradley, and Local 257 President George Cooper insisted that musicians be treated with respect. Dave Pomeroy was elected President of Local 257 in 2008, and has been re-elected 4 times, and has been an AFM International Executive Officer since 2010. He has worked hard to proactively evolve with the changing industry, while preserving our historic tradition of "doing the right thing" that has served Nashville musicians well over the years, and while Nashville is the 25th largest city in the U.S., we have the 3rd largest Musicians Union, which pretty much tells the tale. Our members include Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, Keith Urban, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, The Kings of Leon, Dolly Parton, and 2200 of "the finest musicians on earth." We put the Music in Music City!
