Dave Pomeroy and Friends in Concert
A Fundraiser for the Nashville Musicians Association,
AFM 257 Local Beneficiary Fund
Aug. 9 at Third & Lindsley - 7 p.m.
July 15, 2022 — Nashville, TN. Nashville Musicians Association luminaries along with other local artists will perform for a benefit concert at Third and Lindsley to raise money for the Nashville Musicians Association Beneficiary Fund Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. The Fund has paid out more than $300,000 to the beneficiaries of 78 AFM Local 257 members who passed away since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. All proceeds from this event will go to help defray the cost of maintaining the AFM 257 Funeral Benefit Fund, which has been challenged by the staggering number of losses.
This special show will honor many of the prominent AFM 257 members we lost during the pandemic. Just a few of the many stars and other prominent musicians who passed during the pandemic include John Prine, Joe Diffie, Beegie Adair, Hargus “Pig” Robbins, Charlie Daniels, Bob Moore, Jan Howard, Joe Diffie, Dallas Frazier, JT Gray, Bill Pursell, Tim Akers, Roland White, and Kenny Malone. Crucially, however, the fund is vitally important for beneficiaries of the many lesser-known musicians with a limited retirement income. It was primarily for those members that the fund was first established in 1917. Once a common component of AFM Locals across the country, Local 257 is now one of only a handful still offering this survivor benefit.
The event will be hosted by bassist Dave Pomeroy, president of AFM Local 257 since 2009. Musical guests already confirmed include Guthrie Trapp, Three Ring Circle, The SloBeats, and The McCrary Sisters, with many more to come. It is our hope that we will be able to honor the memories of all we have lost during the pandemic, and support all beneficiaries of the Fund with this concert. Stay tuned for more details as they are confirmed.
Thanks for spreading the word!
