R.I.P. Sleepy LaBeef 1935-2019 - A Tribute by Dave Pomeroy

Peter Guralnick, Sleepy LaBeef, Dave Pomeroy 2012

It is difficult to describe the impact Sleepy LaBeef had on my life. I was 21 years old when I moved to Nashville in October 1977. After just a few weeks, it became apparent to me that despite my own confidence in my musical skills, I was not going to immediately rise to the top of the heap, and I needed a gig badly. I made up a few homemade business cards, and posted them in all the music stores I could find, hoping to land some kind of job that would start the proverbial ball rolling.

20th Annual Nashville Unlimited Christmas at Christ Church Cathedral Dec. 9 and 10, 2019 Monday December 9th 2019 - 7:00pm

Every holiday season, bassist and producer Dave Pomeroy pulls together a dazzling, eclectic, array of Nashville’s finest singers, songwriters and musicians for a great cause — raising funds for Nashville’s Room in the Inn homeless program. To celebrate the 20th year at Christ Church Cathedral, this year’s "Nashville Unlimited Christmas" Concert will be for two nights for the first time, and will be held Monday and Tuesday, December 9th and 10th, at 7 p.m. As always, this free concert is produced and hosted by Dave Pomeroy, and co-hosted by Don Henry, with a suggested minimum donation of $20, and all guests are invited to give more if they feel so moved. All proceeds go to Room In The Inn. Seating is first come, first serve and the doors open at 6.

So far, this year’s lineup already includes Emmylou Harris, Charles Esten, The McCrary Sisters, Charlie McCoy, Andy Leftwich, Don Schlitz, Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, with more artists to come. As always, you never know what “Mystery Guests” will make an appearance for this special event. Past performers have included John Prine, The Time Jumpers, the Fisk Jubilee Singers, John Cowan, Kathy Mattea, Johnny Neel, Annie Selleck, The Hot Club of Nashville, Jonell Mosser, Buddy Miller, and many more of Music City’s finest musicians and singers.

Since 1992, Pomeroy’s holiday concerts have raised more than $320,000 in donations for Room In The Inn, an organization that transforms the lives of Nashville’s homeless.

“Nashville Unlimited Christmas celebrates the season with great holiday music while raising much-needed funds and increasing awareness of the great acts of love, kindness and understanding done for our community by Room In The Inn over the years,” said Pomeroy. “We urge all Nashvillians to come share in the true spirit of Christmas,” he added.

The Keemosabees at Puckett's Saturday October 12th 2019 - 8:30pm

The Keemosabees are three of Nashville’s most versatile musicians, songwriters, and singers. Ricky Ray (guitar/vocals), Dave Pomeroy (bass/vocals) and Rick Lonow (drums/vocals) are longtime friends who joined forces as the Keemosabees in 2013. Individually, they have worked with and written songs for dozens of iconic artists from Waylon Jennings, Don Williams and Chet Atkins to Etta James, Peter Frampton, and Earl Scruggs. Collectively, Ricky, Dave and Rick are combining their diverse influences into co-writing, recording and performing as the Keemosabees, and their live performances are dynamic, soulful and unpredictable. Come down and feel the groove!
