Legendary roots rocker Sleepy LaBeef has been a musical road warrior for more than 50 years, playing honky tonks and concert stages around the world for appreciative audiences who can’t get enough of his energetic stage presence, powerful, deep voice and rootsy guitar playing. "Sleepy LaBeef Rides Again" is a new live concert and documentary film that captures the 76-year-old LaBeef at the legendary Douglas Corner Cafe in front of an enthusiastic Nashville audience. LaBeef is backed by a stellar band including guitarist Kenny Vaughan, keyboardist Gene Dunlap, Rick Lonow on drums and bassist Dave Pomeroy, who produced the film and the accompanying soundtrack CD for his label, Earwave Records.
LaBeef is known as “The Human Jukebox” because of his gigantic repertoire of 5000-plus songs. The DVD features 16 songs performed in Sleepy’s trademark rapid fire style and four documentary segments with band interviews, vintage footage and behind the scenes shots from a recording session at historic RCA Studio B. Famed music journalist Peter Guralnick, author of books such as Sweet Soul Music, Lost Highway and the definitive two volume Elvis Presley biography, Night Train to Memphis and Careless Love, is featured in the documentary segments, giving a unique insight and perspective on Sleepy’s life and music.
